On June 17, Russia Beyond the Headlines and The Washington Post co-hosted an event held at the Post. Hundreds of readers, as well as several dignitaries (including Mr. Aleksander N. Darchiyev, Russian Charge d'Affaires, and Mrs. Svetlana M. Ushakova, the wife of the former Russian Ambassador) attended.
Russia Beyond the Headlines would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the sponsors that were integral in making this event such a success: Aeroflot - Russian Airlines, Russian Standard Vodka, Insight Vacations and Trafalgar Tours.
Aeroflot gave away business class roundtrip tickets for two to Moscow. A week in Moscow and St. Petersburg was provided by Trafalgar Tours and Insight Vacations. Garry Goldberg of Silver Spring, Md., was the lucky winner.
In addition, Russia Beyond the Headlines would like to thank their partner, RIA Novosti. Guests at the event were able to learn about RIA Novosti's services and products.
Ads in Russia Beyond the Headlines generated more than 1,200 replies from readers who wished to attend the event. Guests enjoyed chilled served Russian Standard vodka and delicious Russian fare.
