Khimki mayoral candidate Chirikova files 50 complaints against rival

Khimki mayoral candidate Yevgenia Chirikova has filed several dozen complaints about violations of the election canvassing rules allegedly committed by her rival Oleg Shakhov, but none of them has been confirmed.

"The Khimki Election Commission has accepted 50 copies of one and the same complaint with only the numbers of polling stations altered, and none of them has been confirmed," Election Commission Vice Chairman Leonid Ivlev said at the commission's information center.

Chirikova complained that Shakhov's canvassing posters had been put up less than 50 meters from polling stations, he said.

Ivlev said earlier that elections are proceeding in a well-organized manner and without abuses. " We have just talked with the election monitors' chief Boris Nadezhdin, who said that the election campaign is proceeding quietly and without excesses," he said.
