Watch ballet star Diana Vishneva's tribute to legendary teacher Kovaleva

An evening devoted to Lyudmila Kovaleva, legendary teacher of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, took place at St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Theater back on April 1.

Now the exclusive video showing everything that happened backstage at the Mariinsky Theater on that day is available to watch at Ballet Insider.

The evening was a present from Russian ballerina Diana Vishneva, who was also once a student of Kovaleva.

Vishneva gathered her teacher’s most famous students on one stage: prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet Olga Smirnova, prima ballerina with the Mikhailovsky Theater Yekaterina Borchenko, prima ballerina with the Vienna State Ballet Olga Esina, first soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Kristina Shapran and Sofia Gumerova, soloist with the Mariinsky Theater Alisa Petrenko, ballerina of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater Nika Tskhvitaria.
