Rossiya Segodnya to assess future cities

The fourth Smart City of the Future international exhibition and forum, organized by Rossiya Segodnya, will be held in Moscow on November 17−18, 2015. The forum has become a platform for discussing current issues facing urban development. Representatives of the authorities, leading professionals from venture and innovation companies, and city management and urban economy experts will discuss models of urban growth, the interaction of the authorities, businesses and the public in city governance, and the fostering of social and environmental responsibility. The key objective of the forum is to assess the current state and the future of innovative urban development.

The two-day agenda of the Smart City of the Future forum comprises dozens of roundtables on urban redevelopment, energy efficiency in the housing and utilities sector, urban transportation,  an inclusive urban environment, education of the future, nanotechnology for the urban economy, tourism and other current issues.

A plenary session, entitled Driving Development of Regions and Cities in the Face of New Challenges will focus on the influence of economic, political and environmental changes on regional and urban development.

Forum participants will discuss changes in urban development in the regions. The participants will include governors Vladimir Gorodetsky (Novosibirsk Region), Sergei Morozov (Ulyanovsk Region), Alexander Nikitin (Tambov Region), Valery Shantsev (Nizhny Novgorod Region) and Vladimir Gruzdev (Tula Region); Denis Butsayev, deputy head of the Moscow Region and the region’s minister for Investment and Innovations; and Andrei Chibis, deputy minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation.

Smart City of the Future, a major annual forum on the future of Russian regions and cities, is organized by the Rossiya Segodnya media group. The forum is usually attended by members of the federal and regional authorities and experts in city management, urban development and the economy, as well as professionals from venture and innovation companies.  

It is an event of strategic significance for the knowledge-based redevelopment of Russian cities and for improving quality of life.

Partners of the fourth Smart City of the Future international exhibition and forum include the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities,  the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce and the Russian-Italian Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Mir-Expo Moscow Exhibition Company and the multinational developer of analytics software and solutions SAS Russia/CIS.

Industry associations, international media outlets and news agencies will be publicizing the Forum. Its general partners are the Prime Business News Agency, RIA Realty and RIA Rating. Its international partners are the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, Russia Beyond The Headlines (RBTH) and BRICS Business Magazine. While its industry partners are the Real Estate Professional Association (REPA), the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities Association (MAG or IAC), the news agency and magazine Urban Report, and the urban development company Smart City.
