Tatarstan to be the first Russian region admitted to the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies

The Tatarstan Investment Development Agency (TIDA) will be the first – and so far, only – Russian organization admitted to the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).

The association is in practice a private club made up of investment agencies from dozens of countries around the world. Most members are federal agencies, but there are exceptions, like the Republic of Tatarstan is an exception. The goal of TIDA is to first of all attract investors to Tatarstan, then provide them with contacts and advice.

TIDA is actually a part of the administrative structure of the republic headed by former businessman Linar Yakupov. “I have been in business and understand the problems faced by investors. At that time I understood that doing business in the republic was not very easy,” Yakupov said. “Now I have the opportunity to improve the situation.”

Recently representatives from TIDA met with investors near Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, but the purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with potential investors, so no new deals were concluded there.
