The Netherlands Military Tattoo

On 26 – 29 September 2013, the Rimsky-Korsakov Central Navy Band will participate in the Netherlands Military Tattoo. This year one of the key themes for the Tattoo in Rotterdam is the 525th anniversary of the Dutch Navy and the 315th anniversary of Russian shipbuilding. (On January 15th, 1698 in the Dutch town of Zaandam, Peter the Great was awarded with a patent as a ship carpenter - the first Russian marine certificate of education).

2013 is a cross-year of Culture between Russia and the Netherlands. Within the official programme of the year of Culture the Royal Dutch Marine Band visited Moscow in September and participated in Spasskaya Tower, festival of military bands in Moscow. Now the Rimsky-Korsakov Central Navy Band is going to Rotterdam with a return visit.

As well as in Moscow the CNBand’s performance will have two parts: a joint performance with the Royal Dutch Marine Band, and the individual performance - a potpourri of the Russian sea songs “Apple Cocktail”  including a signal - Central Navy Band Moscow - with the help of the International flag language (sailor Sergey Letfullin).

The music arrangements used for the performance, choreography of the Band's marching show and staging of the performance have been done by the Chief Conductor of the CNBand, Honoured artist of Russia, Captain Alexey Karabanov. The military conductor is Captain-Lieutenant Roman Plotnikov.
