9th PRESSzvanie International Contest for Business Journalism

The awards ceremony for the 9th PRESSzvanie International Contest for Business Journalism will take place on April 24.

For the first time, the ceremony will take place at the Rossiyskaya Gazeta publishing house.

The journalists taking the stage will be the authors of the best articles in twelve categories. Field specific categories are: “Hydropower” (in partnership with the energy contest RusHydro), “Immunology” (Microgen), “Investing, Finance, Banking” (Absolut Bank), “Innovative Business” (RBK), “Small Business” (Moscow Entrepreneurs’ Association, MEA), “Nanotechnology” (Nanotechnological Society of Russia, NtSR), and “Professional Education” (MIPT).

Special prizes will be awarded in these categories: “Relevant Topic” (Russia Today), “Area of Special Attention” (Interfax), “Russian in the World” (Russian Beyond the Headlines, RBTH), ‘Word and Business” (All Russia), and “Colleagues’ Choice Award” (Radio Russia).

The winners are selected in a three-party process. First, the contest’s experts — the online mass media library Public.ru and the company Mediology — conduct monitoring. And the contest’s jury has the deciding vote.

Representatives of the press wishing to cover the ceremony will be accredited up until the evening of 22 April.

“The contest is exceptional not only because it singles out and praises the best publications, but also because of the method of nomination. Each nomination is initiated and supported by a professional in the relevant field or by an organization that has an impact on the development of the particular economic sphere. The nominating partners don’t just determine the best authors, but also frame the current agenda and perform an educational mission,” said Executive Director of the 9th PRESSzvanie International Contest for Professional Journalism Nadezhda Yavdolyuk

“We are grateful to all of our partners. We want to give special thanks to the leadership at Rossiyskaya Gazeta for giving us the opportunity to hold the awards ceremony on such a prominent platform,” Yazdolyuk added.

The PRESSzvanie International Contest for Professional Journalism is held with the aim of supporting and acknowledging the authors of publications that strive toward objectivity and the illumination of events in science, economics, and enterprise in Russia; that use facts to demonstrate that Russian businesses are competitive; that shed light on achievements in science; and that create the basis for effective international cooperation.

The founders of the contest are the Moscow Entrepreneurs’ Association (MEA) and the Russian Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). The contest is international and has been held annually in Russia and Ukraine since 2005. Each year over 10,000 publications are considered in the monitoring portion of the contest. About 2,500 authors from 4,000 leading federal and regional mass media outlets have taken place in the contest since its inception eight year ago.
