Russian Instagram bloggers visited Luzhniki Stadium on September 24. It is no ordinary stadium, but the main venue of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
In three years’ time the stadium will host the opening ceremony and final games of the tournament. But before that, it will need a considerable makeover.
Built in 1956, the stadium has hosted many important international events. It was one of the main venues for the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
During reconstruction, its historical façade will be preserved, but the inside will be modified extensively.
This world of concrete and metal will be completely redeveloped. There will be natural grass, high quality monitors, comfortable seats, more parking lots and new TV and radio centers.
The main building works have to be finished by 2016, so the construction process is done in shifts, non-stop 24/7.
Instagram blogger Dayasov writes: “My inner child was thrilled by the gigantic structure. Children get excited by building sites and other dangerous places. Here I am in this huge area, taking photos. It’s awesome!”
It’s under construction now, but in three years you could be here supporting your team in the World Cup 2018 final. Save the date and bring your friends!
