The World Robot Olympiad in Olympic Sochi

The finals of the World Robot Olympiad took place in Russia for the first time.

From November 21 to 23, 379 teams from 47 countries competed at Sochi's Olympic Park. There were 44 Russian teams from 13 regions in Russia. Overall, Sochi hosted more than 3,000 participants from around the world. This year's competition followed rules drafted by Russia. The Olympiad's theme was space. Over a three-day period, the judging panel evaluated the young participants’ work in the following categories: regular, open, College, and Robot Football.

The winners included 6 prize winners from Thailand, 5 from Russia, 3 from Malaysia, and 2 from Taiwan. Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, the United States, the Philippines, and Japan all had one prize winner each. Russia ended up in second place for the amount of Olympiad prizes. The Olympiad’s most captivating completion, Robot Football, resulted as follows: first and second place went to teams from Thailand, while third place when to a team from Russia
