30under30: Alexander Gorodetsky, "Russian weapons startup"

The “30under30” special project is organized by Talent Equity Ventures and Russia Beyond the Headlines. This year's list reflects data that it not simply a ranking; the list is constructed to represent the actual state of innovation in the Russian economy.

AleksandrGorodetsky's business is mainly connected with the production and sale of kits for upgrading Kalashnikov rifles

He has quite a unique team by Russian standards: it handles the entire production process, from the earliest drawings to the launch of the conveyor. According to the entrepreneur, there are more than 50 million Kalashnikov assault rifles and copies in the world by the most conservative estimates, and that's not counting civilian versions. Therefore, Gorodetsky was sure when he started the business that it would become popular. One of the most popular kits in this series is a special bracket for mounting scopes and other specialized devices. It fits right on the receiver cover, which is the main thing that sets it apart from competitors' models that are mounted on the side of the rifle.

Gorodetsky's immediate plans are quite ambitious -- gaining access to foreign markets and competing with such well-known companies as Magpul. Looking 30 years into the future he would like to have annual sales of half a billion dollars, and unite all his products under a single brand.
