Opposition activist Alexei Navalny said on livejournal.com that he has been deprived of his attorney status.

According to earlier reports, activists from the young people's movement Young Guard of United Russia on Tuesday asked Moscow Bar Association President Henri Reznik to consider the possibility of stripping Alexei Navalny of his status as an attorney.

"The Bar Association just didn't have any other choices according to the law. They had to strip me of my attorney status," Navalny said, adding that his deprivation of the attorney status was "unavoidable" because he had been convicted for a deliberate crime.

He said he lost his attorney status on November 16, 2013.

Navalny reiterated that "the Bar Association has notified the Justice Ministry and all relevant authorities about this decision."
