Ground public transport to work in Moscow until 3 a.m., subway until 2 a.m. on New Year, Christmas
The city transport will work under a special schedule during the New Year and Christmas holidays, head of the Moscow department of transport and traffic infrastructure development, Maxim Liksutov, said at a meeting of the Moscow government on Friday.
According to Liksutov, the Moscow subway will work until 2 a.m. and ground city transport - until 3 a.m.
Some station of the Moscow subway will be used for entry only and some for exit only, the official said.
"We have decided and agreed with police that the main parts of stations will be open for both entry and exit so that all citizens, who will come to the city center, will be able to use the entire infrastructure of the Moscow subway," Liksutov said.
On December 31 to January 1 and January 6-7 the Moscow subway will be open from 5.30 a.m. until 2 a.m., the department press office told Interfax.
Public transport will be removed from Teatralny Lane, Vasilyevsky Spusk (Basil's Descent). Okhotny Ryad Street and Lubyanskaya Square from 9 p.m. on December 31 until 1.30 a.m. on January 1, the department said.
