Nearly a quarter of the deputies in the Russian State Duma, the lower house of parliament, backed a bill that would switch the clocks to winter time, to be more exact astronomical time, and the bill will be submitted for debates on Monday, chief of the parliamentary health committee Sergei Kalashnikov told Interfax.

"More than a hundred of the 450 State Duma deputies put their signatures under our bill. We will submit it officially to the Duma on Monday," Kalashnikov said on Sunday.

Kalashnikov earlier told Interfax that the deputies would be prepared to pass the bill even if it is opposed by the government.
