Construction pole breaks through Moscow metro tunnel between stations, no one injured
A tunnel between the Avtozavodskaya and Kolomenskaya metro stations of the Zamoskvoretsky line has been punctured with a construction pole, the metro press office told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The emergency was found at 3.28 p.m. in the direction moving traffic away from the center. No one has been injured in the incident and no passengers are in the tunnel between the Avtozavodskaya and Kolomenskaya metro stations," the press office said.
Train services have been stopped on the Zamoskvoretsky line due to the incident, the press office said.
Train services are currently being held between the Rechnoy Vokzal and Avtozavodskaya stations and between the Orekhovo and Alma-Atinskaya stations, the press office said. While the consequences of the incident are being dealt with, the metro has asked the Mosgortrans federal unitary enterprise to provide buses in order to transport passengers at the metro section which are not working, the press office said.
"Experts are currently dealing with the consequences of the emergency in order to restore train traffic throughout the Zamoskvoretskaya line as quickly as possible," the press office said.
A similar accident occurred on the Zamoskvoretskaya line on March 19, 2006, when a tunnel between the Voykovskaya and Sokol stations was damaged during the installation of an advertisement board. The pole, which broke through the tunnel, damaged a train with no casualties.
