More than a million foreign tourists will arrive in Russia to watch the matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said, according to an Interfax correspondent who attended a session of the Russia-2018 Organizing Committee.
Over three million tickets will be sold for the games of the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals tournament in Russia, Mutko said.
The Russia-2018 Organizing Committee's Supervisory Council, which is chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is expected to meet in September or October 2014, the minister said.
On March 4, the organizing committee's deputy chairman, Igor Shuvalov, will preside over a session of the coordination council, which will address ministers' reports concerning preparations for this athletic event, Mutko said.
"A logo will soon be selected for the 2018 world championship. It will be presented in September," he said.
