State Duma committee on security and counter-corruption will consider next week amendments submitted for the second reading of the bill stipulating tighter sanctions for weapons brandishing under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

State Duma committee on security and counter-corruption will consider next week amendments submitted for the second reading of the bill stipulating tighter sanctions for weapons brandishing under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

"Among other things, we will answer the questions related to enhancing responsibility for weapons storage," head of the State Duma committee on security and counter-corruption, Irina Yarovaya, said at the committee meeting on Wednesday.

The topic of weapons circulation is "a definite priority" for the committee, Yarovaya said.

According to Yarovaya, the coming consideration of the bill in the second reading is not related to any tragic events - the document has been drafted "in the framework of comprehensive analysis of existing laws and the efficiency of measures protecting the security of society and citizen health."

The bill could be submitted for the second reading in February - "at least the committee will propose this," Yarovaya said.

The bill was passed in the first reading on May 21, 2013.
