Moscow wants Syria talks to continue

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN's Syria envoy Lakhdar Brahimi that the Geneva talks between the Syrian government and opposition should be continued without delay.

 Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN's Syria envoy Lakhdar Brahimi that the Geneva talks between the Syrian government and opposition should be continued without delay.

"The current key task is to maintain dialogue between the Syrian parties. Therefore, Sergei Lavrov proposed continuing the Geneva process as soon as possible," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement after a meeting between Lavrov and Brahimi.

"Lavrov praised the special envoy's efforts as a mediator in the inter-Syrian talks to forge a compromise and common ground in settling the crisis in Syria," the statement says.
