Yulia Ionina, a woman from St. Petersburg, has won the Mrs. World 2014 competition, which came to an end last night in Ecuador. Her press secretary Olga Filatova reported to ITAR-TASS on Sunday.

"I'm very glad it worked out. This is a great achievement for me, and, in general, for participants from Russia," Ionina said on the phone to ITAR-TASS. According to her, in Latin America, where the competition was held, the attitude towards the Russian participant was "better than good."

"There was no negativity, none from the other participants, either," she added.

Forty participants from different countries competed for the title of Mrs. World 2014, that is, the most beautiful married woman of the planet.

Ionina, a 28-year-old mother of three children, is a successful entrepreneur who runs a charitable foundation called Beauty and Mercy and is currently studying for her second degree, in law. Last year, she was the winner of the "Mrs. Russia 2013 International North West" contest.

The Mrs. World competition, which was founded in 1985, has seen two Russian winners in the past – in 2006 and in 2009.
