It has emerged that ex-Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev was a fan of David Lynch's cult TV series Twin Peaks, and even went as far as asking U.S. President George Bush Sr. to help him find out who killed Laura Palmer, one of the characters in the series.

In his book Reflections: An Oral History of Twin Peaks, published in July 2014, journalist Brad Dukes writes that Mikhail Gorbachev was a fan of the series and used his connections to try to find out who was responsible for Palmer's death.

Songwriter Ryan Walsh posted an excerpt from the book on his Twitter account on Nov. 18. The excerpt contains a quote from Spelling Entertainment Inc chief Jules Haimovitz, who oversaw the writing of the script for Twin Peaks.
