Vietnam takes part in World Taekwondo Championships in Chelyabinsk

The championships that commence this week are a qualifier for the 2016 Rio Olympics

A 12-member team from Vietnam is taking part in the World Taekwondo Championships that commenced today in the Siberian city of Chelyabinsk, according to Vietnam News.

The contingent includes Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Nguyen Trong Cuong and Asian Games silver medallist Nguyen Van Duy, according to the report.

The best fighters will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

Russia, South Korea, China and Japan are the favorites to secure the maximum number of places in Rio.
