Vladivostok may get a diamond exchange

Russia is the world’s largest diamond producer but does not have a single diamond exchange at the moment.

Vladivostok may get its own diamond exchange, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev told TASS.

“We have Japan and China nearby… they are interested, I have discussed it with them,” Trutnev, who is also the Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, said. “We need to find experts in this field. It is a quite narrow circle of people.”

Despite the fact that Russia is the world’s top diamond producer, the country still has no diamond exchanges.

All major diamond exchanges are members of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). The largest ones are in the U.S., Belgium, UAE, India and China.
