Russia demands thorough investigation of air attack in Yemen
Russia insists on thorough and unbiased investigation of the air strike in the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa and punishment of those responsible for it, the Russian foreign ministry said on Oct. 9.
"According to the latest reports, about 200 people were killed and more than 500 were wounded in an air strike on a building in Sanaa where a mourning ceremony was held on Oct. 8," the ministry said. "Following these tragic development, we extend our sincere condolences to the families of those killed and wish soonest recovery to those wounded. Such an attack with so many victims from among civilians cannot but cause indignation and condemnation. It must be thoroughly and unbiasedly investigated and its organizers and executors must be duly punished."
According to the Russian foreign ministry, such tragedies "can be avoided only through stopping violence and resumption of the comprehensive political process where the Yemeni are to decide their future on the basis of corresponding resolutions of the United Nations and the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference, without any external interference."-
