Simultaneous interpretation of Russian now possible on Skype

Skype has added Russian to the list of languages available for its real-time translation of calls and messages, according to an announcement by Microsoft.

Russian is the ninth language available for simultaneous interpretation on Skype, following English, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, French, Portuguese, German and Arabic. More than 50 languages are available in the program’s written translation service.

The translation function relies on computer recognition technology and the service improves itself through use. The more people use it to communicate, the higher the quality of the translation becomes.
