Press photoIgor Butman’s festival “Triumph of jazz” is Russia’s largest world jazz event. Every year, this is a tour around the world of jazz superstars. Premieres are held of international projects from the most famous musicians from Russia and the United States and presentations will be given of new programs and albums. The first festival took place in the year 2000. From 2013 on, the festival is held not only in Moscow, but also in St. Petersburg.
The headliner of this year’s festival will be a five-time Grammy award winning Quartet, with the outstanding bassist Christian McBride. Number one New York saxophonist Chris Potter and his quartet will play for the first time in Russia. The South Korean jazz diva Youn Sun Nah will present a new program with the Moscow jazz orchestra. Another premier: the Moscow Jazz Orchestra will be presented by Thelonious Sphere together with the nominee for this year's Grammy: pianist and composer John Beasley. In addition, stars of the Moscow jazz scene will make an appearance. Vocalist Alina Rostockiy will perform with the Oleg Butman Trio, with the eminent trumpeter Mike Rodriguez.
