Brest Fortress remains symbol of Soviet WWII resistance

On June 22, 1941, the Brest Fortress in modern-day Belarus became the front line of the Great Patriotic War, when the Wehrmacht began its onslaught. 

Despite being vastly outnumbered, the fortress regiments held out against the German forces for almost a month.
