It is a typical example of planned development after the huge fire that destroyed Moscow in 1812. Every wooden building that remains from the early 19th century is a very rare discovery. Not many wooden buildings survived the blaze of 1812 during the Napoleonic war, and the fact that some still exist in the 21st century is a miracle.
