The “Husky Land” ethnic theme park lets you take part in Chukchi rituals with a real shaman, have a sip of curative tea or race across snow-covered fields in a dog sleigh.The Chukchi, the indigenous people of Chukotka, are related to the Eskimo of North America and share some customs and rituals with them.
Rostislav is a Russian Chukchi who came to Russia’s capital from the tiny village of Yanranay, 11,000 km north-east of Moscow. Rostislav was born to a family of herdsmen and hunters, and was trained to become one of them. But at the age of 18 Rostislav left his village and joined a folk dance ensemble in Anadyr, the capital of Chukotka.For the last seven years Rostislav has been working in the ethnic theme park near Moscow, where he acquaints visitors with Chukchi culture.
