Russia is currently the only country seriously intent on exploring the Arctic hydrocarbon reserves.
Alamy/Legion-MediaRussia and Singapore are exploring the possibility of cooperation in the Arctic, Russian Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov told Sputnik News on March 15.
“Cooperation between Russia and Singapore in Arctic research is actively developing,” Chilingarov was quoted by the website as saying. “Partnering with them is very interesting for us. There is a negotiation process in this area. I hope that it will be successful and there will be less politics and more economic and commercial interests.”
Chilingarov accompanied Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev on his trip to Singapore and Vietnam.
