The production of Russian AL-55I engines for training aircrafts based on the Indian development HJT-36 is scheduled to begin in India in 2016, - head of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) Vladislav Masalov said in an interview to RIA Novosti.
Under the Indian Air Force order for the Indian training aircraft HJT-36 Russia designed and created double-flow turbojet engine of the new generation AL-55I. In the future the serial production of AL-55I under the Russian license is planned to be run at the factory of HAL corporation in India .
«Ufa Engine Industrial Association" (UMPO) is working under two contracts for the manufacture and supply of non-standard equipment for the engine testing at the stand and is starting to work under contract for setting up licensed production. The licensed production is scheduled to be launched in India in 2016,» - Masalov said at Aero India-2015 exhibition held in the Indian city of Bangalore.
Currently there is a transfer of technical documentation for the engine with a service life of 300 hours on the terms agreed with the Indian side.
«Development work (R&D) documentation is ready and will be fully transferred to India by the end of the year. Currently we are preparing the time schedule to increase the service life to 1200 hours» - Masalov said.
