twitter.com/VikasSwarupRussian companies and regions will participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show, which opens on Jan 9, in Gandhinagar, TASS reported on its website, citing Russia’s Trade Representative in India Yaroslav Tarasyuk.
“This is a major economic event in India, which will take place on Jan. 9-13,” Tarasyuk told the news agency. “The forum and exhibition will feature representatives of more than 20 countries, including more than ten Russian companies and organizations - the Emergencies Ministry, Sibur, Novatek, Rosneft, Roscosmos, Rosatom, Rostech, Schwabe, and others, as well as representatives of the Russian regions.”
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin is leading the Russian delegation, which includes representatives of Tatarstan and the Astrakhan region, which has a long-standing partnership with Gujarat. Gandhinagar will also host a Russia-India business forum on Jan 11.
Rogozin is expected to have standalone talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be the first high-level talks between Russia and India since the 2016 annual summit in Goa.
“The promising directions for development of the trade and economic cooperation between Russian companies and the Gujarat State - a most developed region in India - could be the oil and gas and chemical industries, pharmaceuticals, automotive, defense industry, shipbuilding, and development of ‘smart cities’,” Tarasyuk told TASS.
The Vibrant Gujarat forum is held every alternative year and looks to attract investment and technology to the Indian state, which has consistently been among the fastest growing in the country.
