A man from the city of Krasnodar in southern Russia was so dispirited by all the downbeat people he saw on public transport that he decided to do something about it. Ivan Kalugin rented a tram for one day and let all passengers ride for free, just to inject some cheer into their lives.
Apparently, most people were a little bewildered by his offer but he did manage to raise a few smiles. “That’s why I did it, to make people a bit happier,” Kalugin said.
