Chelyabinsk Region

Chelyabinsk Region is the citadel of ferrous metallurgy and mechanical engineering and the locals who work in the Urals megafactories and industrial plants are considered the toughest in Russia. When a meteorite fell near Chelyabinsk in 2013, the whole world was shocked and locals quietly filmed what was happening on their way to work. By the way, the meteorite split into thousands of pieces - and the largest of them can now be seen in a museum in the South Urals - it weighs as much as 500 kg.

Chelyabinsk Region has its own Paris, Berlin and Warsaw. In the middle of the 19th century, Cossacks settled here and named the villages in memory of the battlefields of the War of 1812, where they took part.

In the 1980s, in the south of Chelyabinsk Region the ancient settlement of Arkaim, which is four thousand years old, was discovered! It is a fortress, inside of which were dwellings, pottery workshops, streets, even necropolises. Today, Arkaim has become a city-museum.
