The region’s territory is indented by many basins of various shapes and sizes, mostly filled with water. And now imagine that there are almost 3,000 of these lakes with different minerals, salts and therapeutic mud, fed by melt water. Most of the lakes are located in secluded places, where locals like to go for fishing and outdoor recreation. However, there are also mud resorts: the most famous one is located on one of the saltiest lakes in the region, Medvezhye Lake (‘Bear Lake’).
