Novosibirsk Region

The builders of the Trans-Siberian route had to erect a bridge over the Ob river. A train station was built nearby, and, gradually, the future city of Novosibirsk formed around it. It’s considered to be the unofficial capital of Siberia, and is the national champion in a series of categories: the longest straight street in the world (the 7-kilometer-long Krasny Prospekt), the shortest street in Russia (Sibstroyputy Street, at just 40 meters) and the largest train station, airport, planetarium, library, opera and ballet theaters in Siberia.
