Tambov was founded in the 17th century as a fortress to protect the southern borders of Russia. The famous ‘Tambov wolf’, which originated from a phraseology, has become an unofficial symbol of the city - and a favorite local meme.

Tambov Region is one of the places in Russia where you can meet Bigfoot.
