The Sudukovy Sisters firm (run by Olga and Irina Sundukovy) has been named Designer of the Year at the Boutique Design New York magazine’s Gold Key Awards. The accolade is handed out for innovative design projects in the hospitality industry, such as restaurant and hotel reconstructions.
The Sundukovy Sisters’ designs were also recognized in other nominations. They won the Best Lobby Upscale prize for the Pullman Berlin hotel where they renovated the lobby and recreation zones, including the restaurant and bar.
As the hotel is located next to the Berlin Zoo, the sisters put futuristic sculptures of a zebra and giraffe in the restaurant and lobby respectively.
Moscow's Community restaurant, also developed by the Sundukovy Sisters, was given a nod at the Gold Key Awards in the Best Casual Dining category. The restaurant is located in the building of Russia's State Design and Technology University.
One of the designers’ main challenges was combining several zones in one space: the theater, library, restaurant, and masterclass areas.
Sundukovy Sisters were founded in 2004 and has completed projects in Europe, the UK, U.S., Dubai, and Hong Kong.
