Lipetsk Region
Here, everyone will find something to their taste, from kayaking on the river or a local tea ceremony; but, most often, people come here on weekends to see how the huge stone statue of the Zmey Gorynych growls and spews flames at exactly 20:00. A better background for a selfie is yet to be found!
If you want to spend time with your family and escape into a fairy tale, here’s an ideal plan: go on a quest in the wooden fortress; feed the sheep and llamas; find all the art objects in the park; take a photo of a growling Gorynych standing in your palm and take a steam bath in a banya (Russian sauna).
🐲 The park is located in the Zadonsky district near the village of Kamenka. The most convenient way to get there is by car, a 412-km ride along the M4 Don highway. A nice bonus is free parking. If there is no personal transport, then you can buy a ticket for one of the regular buses from Lipetsk or Voronezh (which you can get to by train or plane, for example). The journey from these cities will take about an hour and a half.
🐲 The park is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm, but if you want to stay longer, you can book a guesthouse and a banya by the river or come with your own tent and stay at the campsite with all the amenities.
🐲 Entrance to the park is free, but you will have to pay for some activities: for example, rafting in a two-seater kayak costs 700 rubles and a horseback ride will cost 3,000 rubles per hour.
🐲 Kudkina Gora is also open in winter: here you can go sledding and skiing, while the “Scythian” wooden fortress turns into the residence of Father Frost (Russia’s Santa Claus)!
