Ingushetia (Republic)

Mountains, expanses and towers: this is the Republic of Ingushetia. According to tradition, it took 365 days to build one tower.  

Since ancient times, the Ingush have called their people ‘Galgay’, which means “inhabitant of the tower”. Combat and residential towers have been built on this land since time immemorial and more than a hundred of them have survived. Local towers reach a height of 10-15 meters and from each of them you can see the towers of the neighboring village - so that you can communicate with signal lights. 

Targim, Khamkhi, Egikkhal and Niy are just some of the names of the ancient tower cities you’ll see when you visit Ingushetia.
