Russia continues its dialogue with NATO on the European missile defense shield, but the window of opportunity to reach a decision is getting narrower as the United States goes ahead with its plans to deploy missile defense facilities in Europe, Moscow's acting envoy to NATO Nikolai Korchunov told Interfax.
"Our dialogue with NATO on missile defense issues continues, but the situation is complicated," the diplomat said.

An agreement was reached at the Russia-NATO Council summit in Lisbon that Moscow and the alliance would analyze opportunities for cooperation in this area, he said.
Russia proposed building a joint missile defense shield that would adequately protect all sectors of the Euro-Atlantic space against missile risks.
"Our partners, however, believe that it is necessary to create two independent systems, which would be coordinated. However, only NATO countries, primarily the U.S., would be able to determine the configuration of their system, and other countries would not be allowed to influence its architecture and parameters. That is where the problem lies," Korchukov said.
