When: From November 2015

Where: UK-wide

Why you should go:

An epic romance set against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution, director David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago (1965), starring the late Omar Sharif and iconic British actress Julie Christie, is one of cinema’s greatest love stories and won 5 Academy Awards. Celebrating the film’s 50th Anniversary and as part of the BFI 2015 blockbuster LOVE in partnership with Plusnet, it will be re-released in cinemas UK-wide by the BFI on Nov. 27 in a sparkling new 4K restoration.

In Moscow on the eve of WW1, medical student and aspiring poet Yuri Zhivago meets the beautiful Lara, setting in motion a fateful romance that turns their lives upside down. With support from acting greats including Tom Courtenay, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger and Alec Guinness, Doctor Zhivago portrays at its heart an intensely human and passionate relationship, challenged by the politics of tradition and war.

With breathtaking cinematography and set design, stunning costumes – which inspired the “Zhivago look” – and one of the best-known film soundtracks ever, Doctor Zhivago is an unmissable big screen experience.
