Soviet Exhibition Centre turned into a Cherry Orchard

Famous Muscovites plant a cherry garden

Last weekend, everyone who happened to be in Moscow could join a team of actors, musicians, artists, designers, sportsmen, businessmen and other famous Muscovites, and take part in the 15th annual cherry-tree planting event, which takes place in Moscow as part of the Chereshnevy Les Open Art Festival.

Chereshnivy Les (Russian for “cherry-tree forest”) is an international art festival, which includes theater performances, film screenings, and book readings. Festival events are held at venues all over the capital: the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, the Sovremennik Theatre, the Khudozhestvenny Movie Theatre, the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, the Moscow International House of Music, GUM and others. Renowned classical performers and young artists use the festival to introduce the public to new art genres and trends.
