The famous French actor Gérard Depardieu, who last year became a Russian citizen, plans to open three restaurants in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Saransk. They will be called simply Gérard.

The Moscow restaurant, whose location has not yet been disclosed, is expected to open this October.

The actor told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper that his restaurants will be offering simple food, "what I myself like, including French and Russian dishes.”

Gérard Depardieu currently owns three restaurants in Paris and a café in Belgium as well as several vineyards in France.

Earlier, there were reports that Depardieu had begun making wine for his new compatriots. He said that talks were under way with the Metro group and other commercial companies that would supply his wines to Russia.
