Khabarovsk Governor visits Malaysia’s Sarawak

Vyacheslav Shport was in Borneo for the 40th anniversary celebration of logging giant Rimbunan Hijau Group

Khabarovsk Governor Vyacheslav Shport visited the city of Sibu, Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo. He attended the 40th anniversary celebrations of Rimbunan Hijau Group, a multinational logging and forestry company that has operations in the Khabarovsk territory.

The celebrations were hosted by Sarawak’s Head of State Tun Pehin Sri AbduTaib Mahmud.

The Sawarwak-based group is also involved in palm oil, media and communications.  It started operations in Russia in 1997 with the establishment of a local subsidiary.

The group has one of the largest timber harvesting entities in Khabarovsk Territory with an annual output of 600,000m3 per year.

In 2007, the group signed a Private Partnership Agreement with the Khabarovsk administration.
