Malaysian low cost carrier AirAsia is considering adding Russia to its list of destinations, the Bernama news agency reported on its website.
AirAsia X Bhd Acting Chief Executive Benyamin Ismail told the news agency that the low-cost affiliate carrier of the AirAsia Group was exploring the option of flights to Russia in the future, in order to boost tourism industry between both countries.
Ismail was present at a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and leading Malaysian businessmen. “This (the meeting) is a good platform for us to meet the ambassador and let us see where we can go from here,” Ismail told Bernama. “We will look into any possible (new) destinations and I think Russia is one of the destinations that we can reach.”
He added that the plans were still in the preliminary phase.
