Phnom Penh’s debt to Moscow is estimated to be $1.5 billion.

Cambodia would like to convert its outstanding debt to Russia into investment and development in the Southeast Asian country, The Khmer Times reported on its website.

A formal request was made by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen when he met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich on March 25 at a forum in China, according to the report.

Cambodia’s debt to Russia is estimated to be $1.5 billion.
